If
you are in the market for a new computer, there is good news.
The types and different models of computers available today
are a great value and come equipped with more computing power
than the average person will require. Even the least expensive
brand of computer you could purchase would be well equipped
to handle any type of application you request. If you want to
work, surf the internet, play games, or create CD-ROMs, any
basic computer will allow you to accomplish this. Lower-priced
computers usually execute even complex applications such as
speech recognition and video editing very well.
The
first step in choosing a new computer is to decide how much
you want to spend. You can choose to spend more money on a top
quality PC, but keep in mind that no matter how technically
advanced a particular computer may be, soon enough new technologies
will make your high-priced computer seem obsolete. If you choose
a lower-priced computer, you will have to replace it sooner
than a more expensive computer, but with technology advancing
so rapidly, it may be a better option to stick with the lower
priced computer and replace it when these new technologies become
available. If you don't want the bargain PC, but you are unwilling
to spend a large amount of money on the top of the line models,
you may want to choose a computer that is in the middle price
range of whatever brand you intend to purchase.
You
will also need to decide if you want a Mac or PC, and if you
want a desktop or notebook type computer. Apple computers, while
having had their share of problems in the past, are now quite
reliable and a great choice for first-time computer users. If
you prefer a Windows-based computer, it is comforting to purchase
a well-known brand name, but you may find that you get the same
computer for quite a bit less money if you choose a lesser-known
brand name. If you travel for business, you may want to consider
a notebook. You will pay a higher price, but the convenience
is worth the cost. If you predominately will be using your computer
in your home, a desktop is a better bargain and you will save
quite a bit of money over the notebook.
